The Meeting of Two Celestial Bodies

On 25th December 2012 people in South America had the opportunity to see a lovely celestial event - lunar occultation of Jupiter. This happens when the Moon moves across Jupiter and temporarily hides it from view.

Whether you will see one depends on your location. In Dec 2008, there was a spectacular occultation of Venus visible in Europe:

Ok, great, what is this blog going to be about? Since I'm into space and astronomy, I recon it will be about that. News, discoveries, curious facts, my musings, that sort of stuff.

Let's start with a video I made about gravity. The classic trampoline analogy doesn't work for me, and I really wanted to see it visualised it in 3D. I found some images on the Internet, and here's the final result:
